Here are 7 of my fave & not so fave menswear looks from the VMA red carpet
HOTT
1. Nick Jonas killed this look. His gold drooping chain holding his Vivenne Westwood jacket together gave it a modern yet renaissance feel.
2. Jason Derulo was draped in accessories without going overboard. It all came together pretty well, usually sneakers and suit jackets have an awkward look but his Giuseppe Zanotti's fell right in place.
3. Nick Young's look... very nice! His shoes were HOT! He kept it simplistic and let his shoes do the walking and talking. Great compliment to Iggy's dress!
3. Austin Mahone, the marching band entrance was cool but his no lace Rick Owens boots were cooler and added great style to his look.
4. Usher. Nothing over the top but his shades and Maison Martin Margiela sneakers made him look comfortable, sporty, and fly.
5. Sam Smith, loving the 3piece suit along with the monk strap shoes. The suit needs a little bit of tailoring (sleeves are too long) but he looked good.
6. Jason Quinn (accompanied by Hillary Quinn) wasn't scared to throw on a printed blazer and he looked great. I'm unsure of the designer of the jacket but it has a McQueen feel. The suede shoes helped too!
7. Gregg Sulkin, loved the steel blue jacket and his brogue shoes were pretty cool!
NOT
1. Jordan Calloway, I'd like this look much more if it was tailored better (suit pants too ruffled & his jacket could fit a tad bit better) I also would recommend a different color pocket square to offset the blue & grey combo.
2. Jeremy Scott, I never know what to say about Jeremy Scott's style. Lol just goofy, I like yellow suits though, i'd like the look better if it wasn't a dinner coat, but Jeremy is going to be Jeremy. :)
3. Wiz Khalifa, I understand the punk rock movement but how did you get those jeans on? I'd also recommend shinier shoes for the red carpet.
4. Brett Davern , looking a little lazy out there. The fall color scheme is great but the jacket is over-sized and throws everything off.
5. Chris Brown, I love Pierre Hardy sneakers and Alexander McQueen bomber jacket, but the shirt wrapped around the waist trend is pretty dead.
6. Jack Antonoff looks like he works on computers. The nerd look is cool but the pants are flooded too high and his socks weren't cool enough to show off. Kind of a disappointment.
7. Riff Raff and Katy Perry tried to duplicate Justin and Brittany but denim overload is always gonna look gross. Truthfully if he lost the jacket and wore a navy suit jacket with a white t shirt under, I'd love it and he'd be on the HOT list, but we're talking about Riff Raff so there's no helping this guy lol.
